If I Stay By Gayle Forman - A Review By Laura

Synopsis
On a day that started like any other, Mia had everything: a loving family, a gorgeous, admiring boyfriend, and a bright future full of music and full of choices. In an instant, almost all of that is taken from her. Caught between life and death, between a happy past and an unknowable future, Mia spends one critical day contemplating the only decision she has left. It is the most important decision she'll ever make.
Simultaneously tragic and hopeful, this is a romantic, riveting, and ultimately uplifting story about memory, music, living, dying, loving.

I really enjoyed this book, However I was expecting to cry my eyes out and I didn't cry once. Okay it pulled a few heart strings but I didn't cry and I love a good cry! That is why I gave this book four instead of five stars.

I love the way Gayle Forman has chose to write the book going from the present situation Mia finds herself in to Mia reflecting on the past, It allows us to see why the choice Mia is faced with is so hard for her to make. I also found all the characters in the book relatable. The way the past is explained from Mia's perspective you almost feel as if you are there, a part of each family barbeque, the birth of her little brother, her first date with her boyfriend and I loved the fact that the book is realistic, the events in this book actually happen to people, it really gets you thinking, what would I do in that situation? Who would turn up for me?.

The version of the book I bought had an extra chapter based on the story behind the story, this touched me and made it just that little bit more special for me.

Overall I would Highly recommend reading this book, you would not regret it.
